The purest form of water is a blessing for every individual. But due to contamination in water it can also give rise to many harmful diseases. The water borne diseases usually spread due to poor water supply and lack of proper sanitation and water management. According to WHO report 3.4 million people, mostly children die annually due to water borne diseases.

Water borne diseases spreads when people drink contaminated water and eat food that has been prepared by the contaminated water. Children, elderly people, and pregnant women are more prone to the health issues cause by drinking contaminated water as they have weak immune system.

Cholera

According to WHO report India is worst affected by diarrhoea and estimated 98,000 child die annually by this life threatening disease.

Typhoid

Typhoid is a type of fever which is caused by bacteria named Salmonella typhi. This disease spread through the direct contact with the food and water contaminated by feces of the infected person. Typhoid occur in those areas where the water supply is badly disrupted. The major symptoms of typhoid are the prolonged high fever and rashes. If proper treatment should not be given to the patient it can get worse and can be fatal.

Hepatitis A

Hepatitis A is a contagious disease which affects the liver. It is caused by Hepatitis A virus. It spreads by the fecal-oral route, by consumption of food or water which is contaminated by the feces of an infected person. Symptoms of hepatitis include nausea, vomiting, fever, and loss of appetite.

Malaria


Malaria is caused by parasite and spreads through the bite of an infected Anopheles mosquito. These mosquito breed in stagnant water and in those places where the water is not cleaned. Malaria can be transmitted from an infected mother to her new born baby at the time of birth. Malaria can be treated effectively but the treatment should be done immediately. The symptoms of malaria are, headache, nausea, vomiting, fever and chills, weight loss and depression.

Dysentery

Dysentery is an infection in the intestine which causes diarrhoea containing blood or mucus. It is mostly caused by a bacteria called Shigella. It spreads through the fecal contamination of food and water. By maintaining good hygiene and proper sanitation this diseases can be avoided.
